MetroLab Workshop on Big Data and Human Services

Urban@UW

This workshop hosted by City of SeattleMetroLab Network, and the University of Washington will convene experts from local government and universities to discuss common challenges and propose collaborative, data-driven solutions to human service issues. Work will continue after the meeting as members focus on opportunities for collaborative research, and scalable projects. The workshop will also consider which tools and materials (data sharing standards, white papers, software) would be broadly beneficial to city- and county-university efforts.Registration for the event is now closed.

There is no parking at Seattle City Hall, however there are plenty of public transportation options and the garages below are just a short walk away.

Amazon Welcome Reception, 1/16
The welcome reception, hosted by Amazon will take place at the Amazon campus in the Van Vorst Building at 426 Terry Ave N Seattle WA, 98109. There are two entrances to the building, on the north and south sides. Visitors are asked to enter on the south side of the building where the main reception desk is located.

  • Visitor parking is available but limited. Guests are encouraged to arrive by transit, taxi or Uber/Lyft, but if parking is required spaces may be found in the Invictus building. The garage entrance is located on Harrison St, between Terry Ave N and Boren Ave N. Visitors may park in designated visitor parking spots. You will be required to take a ticket and pay for it upon exit. You may exit and reenter the garage through the plaza exit/entrance. The garage closes at 8:00pm.

Happy Hour at Smith tower hosted by Comcast, 1/17
Smith Tower is located at 506 2nd Ave, a short 4 minute walk from Seattle City Hall. If you go into the Provisions General Store on the bottom floor and check in, you’ll be guided to an elevator through a historical display, and will end up in the top at the Temperance bar.

As this event takes place in Seattle, dress will be business casual.
