A Pause for Urban@UW and the Research to Action Collaboratory
For nearly a decade, Urban@UW and the Research to Action Collaboratory have brought people together to foster connection, collaboration and innovation across disciplines and communities.
After much thoughtful consideration, and due to limited budget for the coming year, we have made the difficult decision to pause Urban@UW and the Research to Action Collaboratory. This decision reflects both the current financial landscape and our responsibility to steward this work thoughtfully.
This moment is not a loss of momentum. It reflects the strength of the community that has shaped Urban@UW and the lasting impact of the projects, partnerships, and ideas that have emerged from this collective effort. The spirit of collaboration, creativity, and care that defines Urban@UW remains strong and will continue to inspire future work across the University of Washington.
We are deeply grateful to the countless faculty, students, staff, and community collaborators whose contributions have made this work possible. Together, we have launched more than 30 cross-disciplinary projects, built models that center equity and community partnership, and supported connections that continue to ripple outward across our region and beyond.
During this pause:
- The Urban@UW Listserv will remain active as a space for connection, collaboration, and exchange.
- The Urban@UW website will continue to highlight evergreen content, tools, and resources.
- Current Research to Action Collaboratory teams will continue advancing their projects independently.
We also remain available for conversations about future opportunities and are happy to share or teach the Research to Action Collaboratory model with those interested in adapting it in their own contexts.
Please feel free to reach out to Rachel Berney at rberney@uw.edu with any questions.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. The challenges of building more sustainable, resilient, and just urban futures remain as pressing as ever, and we look forward to staying connected.
